Platforms and balance boards, stability bars
The bosu, an original combination of a ball and a step bar, as well as balance discs and platforms, is a piece of equipment you can use to train at a high level. You can safely train your balance and strengthen your muscles. The equipment is also ideal for rehabilitation and training of older people. If you are interested in original accessories for balance training, be sure to take a look at the Yakimasport offer!
What is a bosu ball?
A bosu is a gymnastic equipment that looks like a ball cut in half. Its shell is characterised by softness and flexibility, while the bottom part is hard and stable. Therefore, when performing exercises on the bosu, you have a sense of security. The convex side of the ball acts like a bouncy balloon - it flexes under the weight of the person exercising. The stable and flat part of the ball is used, for example, to perform push-ups and squats as well as balancing.
The Bosu is ideal for training the deep muscles and working on balance. It is an excellent way to add variety to exercises. Due to the small size of the bosu, it can be used not only in the fitness room but also at home. At Yakimasport, we offer a ball that simulates the movements that characterise various sports.
What is a balance platform?
The balance platform most often comes in the form of a round platform made of plastic or an inflated rubber cushion. The equipment available in different sports accessory shops may differ not only in the type of material, but also in size. However, regardless of these differences in parameters, each platform serves to improve the sense of proprioception, i.e. the sense of alignment of parts of one's own body.
What is a stability beret?
A sensorimotor cushion, otherwise known as a stability beret, is an inflated disc with massaging tabs. Like a bosu ball, it improves motor coordination and balance. You can perform exercises on it, sitting or standing. It is perfect for doing more advanced squats, for example.
Why use bosu, balance platforms and stability barbells?
Training on a bosu teaches you how to balance your body and keep your balance, as well as strengthening your muscles. Consequently, the ball is worth using for skiing, football and tennis training. What exactly are the benefits of bosu ball exercises?
  • They help you lose weight and slim your figure.

  • Improve reflexes.

  • Correct posture.

  • Increases flexibility of the spine.

  • Develop your sense of balance.

  • Improve coordination.

  • Support the deep muscles.

As you can see, bosu training is a great way to achieve a variety of results - you decide which you care about most.
Bosu for exercise
Using bosu, you will perform a variety of exercises. It's worth using your own creativity, testing out different types of workouts and choosing the one that's most suitable for you. You can stand, sit, lie and kneel on a bosu ball. Running and jumping are also a good idea. During your workouts, it is a good idea to use additional gym equipment such as bands, dumbbells and kettle balls. What exercises will you do with a bosu? Here are examples:
  • Glute and thigh strengthening workout - stand with both feet on the bosu with the convex part turned upwards. Do half squats in this position. A second method to strengthen the muscles is to lie on the convex side of the ball on your back and perform movements that resemble riding a bike.

  • Shoulder and abdominal strengthening exercises - turn the ball over so that the flat side is at the top. Grasp both edges of the bosu with your hands and perform push-ups. When exercising, keep your body in a straight line. Remember that your body should not tilt from side to side.

  • Workout to improve balance and coordination - stand on the convex side of the bosu and alternately swing your legs. To keep your balance, help yourself with your hands.

Balance exercise on the bosu and balance platform
You will perform balance training on the bosu and balance platform, which will significantly improve your physical fitness. The ability to maintain balance is essential for a variety of daily activities, such as climbing stairs with shopping and walking on uneven or icy surfaces. As the body ages, balance deteriorates, so exercises with a bosu or balance platform will be excellent for older people. Especially as balance training also helps to get rid of cervical spine pain. This type of training can also be a good choice for obese people, for whom balance is not always evenly distributed throughout the body.
Bosu and balance platforms in rehabilitation
The bosu ball and balance platform are also used in rehabilitation. They help recover from injuries such as sprains and strains. Bosu balls and platforms are also worth choosing by runners struggling with knee pain. Even performing simple movements on them can bring a lot of benefits. When using the equipment in question, you do not have to worry about losing your balance as you would with standard balls. Therefore, the products are suitable for the elderly and those with poor fitness.
Choose a sturdy bosu, balance platform or stability bar from Yakimasport today and get started with interesting workouts that will increase your fitness, strengthen your muscles and develop your sense of balance!
